Sándor M. Salas
studied at the Andalucian School of Cinematography in Seville (Spain),
specializing in editing and digital postproduction. From a young age, he explored the audiovisual world in an autodidact way, trying out different disciplines such as video art, documentary film and music video; in these early works, which he confronted by himself, Sándor was in charge of the whole process, taking care of everything from writing the screenplay, to directing and editing the
piece. In 2007, he formed Anandor Productions, an independent video production company based in Seville, with his life partner Ana Cinta Alonso. Through this platform, they produce the work of
other artists as well as their own, maintaining the initial spirit of taking full responsibility for the entire process.

Title of video: Seismic Silence, 202, 5:00
A video essay that explores the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the beginning of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic brought the world to a grinding halt for several
months. This had two main consequences: a beneficial effect for the environment due to the reduction
of traffic and of the most polluting industries’ activity, but on the other hand a disastrous economic
effect, specially for the socially disadvantaged. While humanity struggled to solve the situation
with no results, scientists warned us that this virus, and others yet to come, find their breeding
ground in the deteriorating biodiversity and destructive imbalance of planet Earth. However, governments
all over the world are trying to return to their usual levels of production as quickly as possible
without taking into consideration the fight against climate change. At the same time, they’re
toughening their population surveillance systems, creating a society where, little by little, citizen
control takes us closer to the dystopian world of George Orwell’s 1984 novel.
This video has been made during the quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic. May 2020.
