  • Miri Nishri, born (1950) in Colombia, is an award winning visual and video artist based in Tel-Aviv, where she works and teaches. Her works were shown in many exhibitions, museums, galleries and festivals in Israel and abroad.

Miri Nishri has been an active and fertile visual and video artist since the early 1980’s. She is never deterred from dealing with high charged and controversial subject matters and using them to explore the boundaries of artistic creation, interlaced with the boundaries of existence. For several years now, Miri Nishri has been dealing with the fundamental, private and universal existential matters, like in her award winning project “Is This Baby Yours?”, a documentation of her dialog with 300 “fathers” (intellectuals and artists of all fields) exploring the question of fatherly responsibility, both spiritual and biological.

In her latest project “Troubled Water”, Miri Nishri turns her attention to the experiences of old age, and along the artistic discussion, a cardinal question is rising concerning the way people deal with the process of getting old. Memory, acceptance, denial, ugliness, crumbling consciousness and the fear of death are filled with refined beauty through Miri Nishri’s extraordinary artistic eye, and the most private of monologs becomes social and universal. “Troubled Water” premiered at the Lulea Summer Biennale in Sweden.
