Elektronengehirn is the electroacoustic music project by media artist Malte Steiner. The sounds are generated by software only, using applications like Max/MSP, csound, pd and custom ones programmed in C/C++. Elektronengehirn started 1996 as a side project of the industrial outfit Notstandskomitee but soon developed a life on its own. Releases where made on CDs and netlabels. Several collaborations and soundtracks for theater and film.
In concerts Steiner often uses alternative controlers to create the sound like windcontroler and data gloves. Concerts where given in Germany, Thailand, USA, England, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Cuba, often in combination with exhibition of Steiners computer installations and/ or lectures and workshops.
