James Pollack is a creator of both digital and non-digital works of fiction, poetry, drama, and art. After graduating from high school at the Visual and Performing Arts Academy with a focus in Drama, he went on to Yale University where he studied English and Creative Writing. While at Yale, he completed a creative thesis in Fiction with John Crowley (Little, Big) and began to study Digital Literature with Jessica Pressman. Currently, he’s enrolled as a MFA candidate in the Digital Arts and New Media program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he is part of the Playable Fictions Research Group under the direction of Noah Wardrip-Fruin. He also considers problems of Artificial Intelligence with the Expressive Intelligence Studio in UCSC’s Jack Baskin School of Engineering. His recent work has appeared in the Museum of Computer Art and been blogged about by The New Yorker magazine. James is Interested in pursing a future involving technology, creativity, art, education, and public/global health.
