is a social psychologist and Full Professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Her research interested is focused on social and cultural representations of high tech design and subjectivity constructions. She is co-assistant editor of the book edited by Chris Hables Gray (1995) The Cyborg Handbook, NY-London: Routledge; she also co-edited (1994) Más allá de la bella (in)diferencia: revisión postfeminista y otras escrituras posibles, San Juan, PR, Publicaciones Puertorriqueñas. Dr. Figueroa-Sarriera has published articles and chapters about cyberpsychology, technoculture and gender construction in local as well as in international journals and books. She is the editor of the online journal TeknoKultura (http://teknokultura.rrp.upr.edu/) and coordinates the teaching and research project CMCEP (Computer Mediated Communicación in Psychology, http://www.rrp.upr.edu/cmcep/). She is member of the editorial board of some academic and professional journals: International Journal of Critical Psychology, published by Lawrence & Wishart, Humanidades, published by Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira (UTP), Colombia (http://utp.edu.co/~chumanas/) and Vectors: Journal of Culture and Technology in a Dynamic Vernacular (http://www.iml.annenberg.edu/vectors/public/index.html) published by the Institute for Multimedia Literacy, University of Southern California (USC).

Marianne Ramírez-Aponte

has a B.A. (1994) in Art, History and Fine Art at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. The thesis project is titled “History of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico (1984-1990)”. In 2004 Marian Ramírez completed a M.A. in Puerto Rican and Caribbean Studies in 2004; the thesis’s title is “The Graphic Art Work of Rafael Rivera Rosa. Social Message and Modern Aesthetic Elements”. From 1995 to present she has been Director of the Exhibitions and Education Department, Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico, San Juan, PR. In 2001 she was co-founder and member of Puerto Rico’s Museum Association, San Juan, Puerto Rico and professor at the Communications Departament, University of Sacred Heart, P.R. In 2002 she was guest professor at Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico. Marianne Ramírez-Aponte has been engaged in several special projects:
