Gabriel Shalom (Born 1982, Bethesda, Maryland USA) is a video artist, musician, cartoonist and designer. His childhood was spent in and around Washington DC and its “vanilla” suburbs. His primary interests include audiovisual aestheticsand postapocalyptic children’s fairy tales. He has been a scholarship student at Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, Bard College in New York’s Hudson valley, Fachhochschule Schwäbisch Hall, and the University of Maryland, College Park. He just finished an artist’s residence at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe. His bachelor’s thesis, a documentary about instrument inventors, world premiered at the 2005 Woodstock Film Festival. His first video Small Room Tango has shown all over Europe in a variety of galleries and festivals. In his free time Gabriel beatboxes in the Stuttgart-based band Tigershrimp and cooks really tasty vegetarian food.
