  • Angela Washko (b. Reading PA) is an interdisciplinary artist from
    Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Through
    painting/photography/printmaking/performance art/installation, Washko
challenges societal paradigms and inspects a culture that is submissive to
technology. Actively fighting the idea that happiness is something that
you gain when you get a really cool car and that sadness ensues when
you’re low on cash, Washko investigates the effects of media, advertising,
and corporate branding on public standards of living. Her gender-bending
performances and the eye-popping colors used in her paintings, prints, and
collages are a wake-up call for the drowsy consumer. Washko currently
holds the position of Outreach Coordinator at Contemporary Artists Center
at Woodside, an artist residency program in Troy, NY.
