Short Biography:
Born in Cork, the Irish composer Ailís Ní Ríain combines her interests as a composer, sound-artist and writer to produce works which challenge, provoke and engage. She has been represented by the Contemporary Music Centre of Ireland since 1999 www.cmc.ie She lives in the North of England, United Kingdom. Her compositions have been performed in the USA, Italy, Holland, UK, Ireland and France and on Irish Radio and Television. In 2004 Ailís was
honoured to represent Ireland in Culture 2004 in Rome and Greece. StreetSong (2006) won joint-first prize at the 2006 ISCM* World New Music Days Short Cuts: Beauty Competition in Stuttgart (*International Society of News Music). StreetSong (2006), an outdoor sound installation was commissioned by The Contemporary Music Centre of Ireland and Temple Bar
Properties it played throughout June 2006 in Dublin City. It has since been broadcast on RTE Lyric FM Irish national radio and in Germany.

An electroacoustic work But Will You? from THE FALLING received its USA premiere in March 2006 as part of Voices on the Edge in California it has since been played at Futuresonic International Festival of Urban Sound and Experimental Music in Manchester July 2006. MISSING PERSONS, a sound-text-photographic installation was commissioned by Tilfeldig
Productions for the COLLECTIVE exhibition which took place in a disused textile mill in Manchester in January 2006.
