Adam Overton

Adam Overton is from Atlanta, Georgia but is now living near Los Angeles, California where he’s pursuing graduate studies in composition and new media at the California Institute of the Arts. Overton specializes in computer-assisted sound performance and installation, and his recent work focuses on translating bodily processes into sound.
Overton has been active in the electric arts since the Fall of 2001 and has composed music for performance art, installation, dance, small ensembles, puppetry theater, and a planetarium show. Several recent projects have included his 7-day meditation-and-sensor-based performance Sitting.Breathing.Beating.[Not]Thinking for solo performer (April-May 2004); Sitting.Breathing.No.1 for solo performer (December 2003); Farewell Rituals, an installation and performance with dancer Blake Beckham (July 2003); and the performance piece, Hair.Ritual.No.38 (September 2002), which was later featured on video in the exhibition, The Hair Show: Video Hair Pieces, at the Artspot Gallery in Atlanta (February 2003).
