I am a Melbourne/Australia-based artist. My work intersects sculpture, sound and installation in a site-responsive, site-inspired practice. I am interested in thresholds – points at which a person’s perception can be questioned, shifting awareness between the spatial and temporal realms and dissolving the distinction between the two.
I graduated with a Master of Fine Art (sculpture/sound/installation) from RMIT University in 2008, having a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition and Psychology and a Diploma in Visual Arts. Recent exhibitions include a solo exhibition, eighty-seven, at Trocadero Art Space, Melbourne, in August. I was a finalist in the Churchie National Emerging Artist Award and Exhibition 2009, Brisbane, and was also included in Hybrid Sculpture 2009 – the 5th Annual (national) Survey Sculpture Exhibition by Toyota. I was most recently invited to participate in Anode 2009 – a season of art events connecting independent, local and experimental artists in unique spaces across Sydney and Melbourne. This featured a solo sculptural installation, Hinged.
I was awarded a Support Stipend to the Can Serrat International Artist Centre in Spain, where I will be spending the month of April, 2010. 2010 will also feature four solo exhibitions, premiering the dummy-head sound project in February as part of an on-going series of installations.
