Yu-Chen Wang

was born in Taiwan (1978) and studied at Goldsmiths College, London (Postgraduate Study in Fine Art 2000-01), Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (MA in Fine Art 2001-02). Her video art practice has been focused on the social and political investigation of contemporary urban myth upon the city landscape, life and belief.
Wang has exhibited across Europe and Asia, including Podion Gallery, Amsterdam, tent.
(2002); Randomize Film and Video Festival, London, Taipei, Beijing and Bangkok (2002-03), Tank.TV, ICA, London (2004) and Synch Festival in Athens (2005). She was shortlisted for young graduate of the Guardian/ Observer Award (UK 2002), PizzaExpress Prospects 2004 Drawing Prize (UK) and The Vauxhall Auteur Theory Film Competition 2005 (screening at Curzon Soho Cinema, London). Her video works have recently been shown in Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, Media Art Festival Friesland (the Netherlands), Sequence at de Roode Bioscoop (Amsterdam) and will be screened in The Space, London and Saison Vidéo, organised by Espace Croisé, Roubaix, France (2006).
