Philipp Hauss
Philipp Hauss, born February 22nd 1980 in Münster, works and lives in Berlin and Vienna.
Studies: Acting Max Reinhardt-Seminar, University of Performing Arts Vienna 1998-2002, Assistant of Christoph Schlingensief in 1999, Cultural studies and Philosophy, University of Vienna since 2006, Ph.D. thesis in progress, Art and Digital Media (Class Prof. Constanze Ruhm), Academy of Fine Arts Vienna since 2009.
Professional activities: as an Actor with the company of the Burgtheater Vienna since 2002, collaboration with Nicolas Stemann, Peter Zadek, Andrea Breth, Luc Bondy, Roland Schimmelpfennig, David Marton, Matthias Hartmann, also guest productions at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin (2010) and the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel München (2002) and the Salzburger Festspiele (2010); as a Director with Students from the Max Reinhardt-Seminar („Bambiland“ by Elfriede Jelinek in 2006 and „Preserved Venice“ by Hofmannsthal 2009), „The legends of Afrika 2 Fischis“ at the Burgtheater Vienna, and „Survival of a salesman“ Garage X Vienna/I-camp Munich; as Artist group exhibition at the Dangerous Curve Gallery Los Angeles, 2007, and as Artist/Curator installation performance „2Fischis“ in the Seidlvilla, Munich, 2009. Awards: Vontobel Award and 2nd Best production of the Warsaw Theatre School Festival for „Bambiland“ in 2007, 3rd Place in the European Opera Directing Competition in Barcelona 2009.
