Panayota Tzamourani
was born in 1973 in Kalamata, Greece. She studied Sculpture in George Lappas’ workhop at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Athens (1994-2000). In 1999 she was the winner of the 1st DESTE Award, DESTE Foundation Center for Contemporary Art, Athens. She has presented her work in two solo exhibitions in Athens: “2+2 = 5†in Stigma Gallery (along with Dimitris Tzamouranis) and “Training the Past†in Batagianni Gallery. Her works have also been presented in various group exhibitions and festivals, among them in group exhibitions at the DESTE Foundation in Athens and at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Her work includes sculptures, installations and video, focusing mainly on video. “My works are rich in audio and visual information, and though they are about reality, they dissolve it into abstract views. They change the familiar into the unpredictableâ€. She lives and works in Athens.
