Mara Montoya is a Zurich-based artist originally born in the U.S. She studied Film at Saint-Lukas Brussels University and Media Arts at Zurich University of the Arts, where she was awarded a graduate degree in Fine Arts in 2008. Since the autumn of 2011 Mara has been working as a Research Associate in the Interaction Design Program at Zurich University of the Arts. In parallel to her research work and personal development as an artist, Mara is pursuing a degree in Law and Economics at the University of St. Gallen. Mara’s work predominantly seeks to explore and reflect on the tension between social classes embodied by the ownership and control of land.
