Janne Vanhanen is a Finnish scholar of aesthetics and media studies from the University of Helsinki, interested in the theoretical and practical junctures of contemporary philosophy, technology and art, especially in the domain of electronic music. He has been engaged with the practical aspects of sound art for a few years, composing sound pieces digitally and taking part in constructing experimental sound-spaces in his hometown, Helsinki. He has most currently been taking part in the Free Manifesta project of Manifesta 4 biennial in Frankfurt. The present work, “CRACK.mp3” uses audio files of fireworks, looped and slowed down, to suggest a violent event, instead of a celebration.
