Gerry Clara started photographing back in 1993 as an autodidactical preparation for filmmaking.
Discovering that the medium fitted him he began to develop his personal work in the tradition of
streetphotography. Though working intuitively with the straight hazard of reality, he kept being
influenced by cinematographic ways of seeing, concentrating spontaneously on filmic scenes in
real-life-situations. All this leaded up to A HARD PLACE, a non-narrative sequence of urban photographs showing the human figure as an uncertain being. A HARD PLACE is shown during 2002 as a work in progress by eyeedge.org, while the enddate of the production is by now not yet defined.
