Dan Mikesell
Dan Mikesell received his BFA from Indiana University and Masters degree from the New York University ITP program. He has taught at Parsons School of Design, New School University, City College and New Jersey City University. Currently Dan works in the Department of Digital Art at Pratt Institute. Dan lives in Brooklyn where he founded Moddities Toy Studio a company devoted to bringing environmental sustainability to toy design. He is credited with various patents and trademarks as well as an international invention award.
Dan’s artwork values the performative nature of art, whether it is activating a space through physical or acoustical activity. Like his artwork the spectacle of performance is also important to his toys. His installations and devices have been shown throughout the United States and internationally.
