Clare Ultimo
is an interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in NYC. Ultimo began an award-winning design studio in Manhattan in 1986, and has created “Poetry Dog Tags” and “Friendship Tags”, (wearable poetry) published by Chronicle Books.
She is currently an MFA candidate enrolled in the Hunter College Interdisciplinary Media Arts program. Two components (website and video) of her three-media thesis project “Verbs on Asphalt: The History of Nuyorican Poetry Slam” is due to be launched in Spring of 2008.
She has shown her visual work at the Ward Nasse Gallery and the Judson Memorial Church in NYC as well as the Eyedrum Gallery in Atlanta. Her experimental video work is in the permanent collection of the Casoria Museum of Contemporary Art in Naples, Italy.
