Alex Hetherington is a visual artist, writer and curator based in Scotland and the United States. He is currently undertaking a year-long residency at Callendar House, Falkirk, Scotland and has recently completed a long-term research project in film, video and performance in New York, San Francisco and Chicago. Recent shows include: House/Lights at the Park Gallery, Falkirk and Live Art Falmouth, Falmouth, Meddle with the Devil at the Park Gallery, Falkirk and Mineral Park, curated by Alex Hetherington, a group show featuring a number of artists from the US. His work will feature at The Colony Room, New Langton Arts, San Francisco, fall 2008, curated by Anne Colvin. Other recent projects include the publication Fools Gold, edited by Lucy Keany, Edinburgh, Class Enemy, Edinburgh International Festival, Untitled (SexyBack, Foley Artist) at File 2008, Sao Paulo and at VideoHolica, Varna, Bulgaria; and a special project for Flit Magazine, Portland, Oregon, US, fall 2008. He has just been awarded an R&D Award for a new performance project, Alt-W, New Media Scotland which he will present in 2009. Also in 2009 he will be working on a project at the Winter School New Territories, Tramway, Glasgow with Franko B. His writing has appeared in Interface(UK), AN Magazine(UK), Shotgun(US), Stretcher(US), Site Gallery, Sheffield (UK) and at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow (UK).
