soundPOOL – a challenge for imagination

My works deal with a perceptual issue focusing on sonic experience, not only by listening to the sound but also through vibration of sound. I combine auditory and tactile perception in form of sound installation and sonic object. The work “Klangkapsel / Sound Capsule”, which won Honorary Mention from the Prix Ars Electronica 2008 in category Digital Musics, realised extremely intense bodily listening. Audience is invited to slide into the full size capsule. Lying down in the capsule, you are completely covered with a sonic experience through loudspeakers and transducers. The combination of the auditory and tactile sonic perception enables us to build a new imaginary and physical space, cooperating together in a very personal level of each audience.
Dealing with the issue of sonic experience, you also need to consider the listening environment, as the imagination evoked from the specific sound depends on a situation, how you listen to it. By designing the environment precisely, the audience can experience the sonic environment exactly how sound artist, composer or musicians intended. In order to build the specific environment, sonic objects are designed from the point of view of acoustics, sculptural quality (for the inviting feeling of wearing, touching it) and as a part of an architectural space structure, in order to realise an intensive perception of the sonic space.
