Agam Andreas (Netherlands, 1956), transdisciplinary artist, studied Physics & Mathematics and Musicology at the University of Amsterdam, Electronic & Computer Music at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht.
Active as musician / composer during the eighties in several Amsterdam based formations.
Started ca. 1986 the quartely web-artzine Nictoglobe, ISSN 1874-9534, which remained until recently rather obscure. Late eighties started to develop interactive installations, of which ‘Gerausche aus der Helle’, 1989, gained some cult status. Developed net-art works, gaining some international recognition outside the Netherlands with ‘Semantic Disturbances’, an experimental work in progress, started winter 2005, which uses Google to explore society’s changing attitudes towards art, religion and technology.
Getting bored with the immateriality of the internet, started to work with live performances at festivals and nightclubs with the Brahamian Intelligence Service’s Ey’ Ar show, 2004, in which religion and spirituality is researched, using video projections and live yoga. Venues a.o. de Balie, Paradiso, SupperClub, Sugarfactory – Amsterdam NL.
Currently working on the ‘Akasha’ installation / performance – remapping human supposed need for transcendence into a spatial ‘tree of life’ model – to be staged at Jerusalem, Israel 2012.
