Liz Miller
A multimedia artist, documentary filmmaker, and professor who has lived in Central America for many years, Liz Miller is committed to exploring issues of identity across cultures. Miller teaches video and digital design in Western Ma. as the Five College Assistant Professor of Film/Video Production. She has taught courses including; Contested Visions: Latin American Film and Video, Critical Thinking and Community Media, and Making Media and the Development of the International Women’s Movement. Ten years of community media experience and a background in political economics, electronic media, and Latin American studies, fuel Miller’s exploration of new media as art, activism, and an educational tool. Her most recent documentary, “Novela, Novela,” profiles a group of Nicaraguan feminists who have fused human rights with popular culture to create the country’s most popular soap opera. In keeping with her desire to bridge experiences from the U.S. and Latin America, Miller is now working on a feature length documentary, “Marvelous Resources” about the conflicts born of transnational water privatization. www.marvelousresources.com
