Rita Sá was born in Lisbon, Portugal. She earned her B.A. and Licenciatura degree in Painting, from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Universidade de Lisboa. In 2009 she graduated from the MFA Computer Art department of the School of Visual Arts, New York, where she studied under a joint scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation and Luso-American Foundation. Rita was also awarded a scholarship from the MFACA department of SVA.
In 2006, the Portuguese Multimedia Awards awarded her collaborative work Wordsong-Pessoa as Best Hybrid Project – gathering image, music and sound. Most recently she has exhibited at Plataforma Revólver, Lisbon, SVA’s WestSide Gallery and Visual Arts Gallery in New York.
