SIP – SoundLAB Interview

General
Richard Higlett is a multi-media working increasing with sound. His most recent project ‘A Song For Jack’ involved the creation of a Dog Choir in Swansea, Wales UK. A new piece was created for dogs to respond too based around sounds and frequencies the selected dogs responded too. The piece was divided into 5 parts to relate to the different singing styles of the dogs. I was performed once in October 2008 to 300 people with the intention of never repeating as the work celebrated the instinctive responses of the dogs. Numerous ‘evidence’ is available on-line.
Higlett’s work moves from animation, sculpture and the creation of fictional soundtracks to unmade films. He is also an acknowledged curator and writer on visual art and one half of Mermaid and Monster an artist-led agency representing artists at international art fairs.
