The Ebertbrothers are Axel Ebert and Michael Ebert. They started working together in 2006, after having led individual careers as designer and artist.
The Ebertbrothers work with both Video and Audio. Their video work deals with memory, reflection, metamorhposis. The main focus is on the experiences of an individual, as opposed to groups of people and their interaction. The videos are silent, there is no spoken dialogue. They move on a slow pace. Technologically, a wide range of media is used, from computer animation to analogue cameras. The soundtracks are written and performed by themselves. Their videos are screened on film- and videoart festivals throughout the world and can also be viewed on the web.
Their audio work translates their approach to video into sound. They use synthesizers, computer based audio processing and field recordings to create multilayered compositions. The Ebertbrothers like to think of their audio work as soundtracks to imaginary films. They perform live and also publish their output on the web.
