Andrei Mikhailov

A designer & media artist.
Born in 1972 in the city of Perm (Russia). Graduated from the Perm State University in 1995
(specialized in biology).
Since 1992 working as a painter and designer. The major exhibitions took place in 1994 and 1995 (oil painting and graphics).
Since 1994 is engaged in video art production, working with the musical and theatrical groups of the city. Since 1995 works as a video artist within the artistic association called “PLKN PRNL LMNL” participating in their audiovisual performances (actions combining musicians working in various styles and genres, experimental actors and the facilities of digital technologies) in the nightclubs, on musical festivals and festivals of modern art.
In 1998 in collaboration with Alexei h Sheremet founded the experimental design studio called
“Islands Design Studio” with purpose to use it as a sort of laboratory in their work with computer
painting & graphics as well as the “conceptual” web design.
1999 – took the first prize on a local “Video and computer art festival” in computer painting for the series of pictures “New-Babel City Art” 2000 – took the first prize on a local “Video and computer art festival” in web design for the internet project “PLKN PRNL LMNL” created in collaboration with Alexei h Sheremet 2002 – together with Daniyl Lebedev and Oleg Kirillov organized “The Festival of Electronic and Media Art”(Perm).
