I am an artist.
Sometimes I think my life was easier if I wasn’t. Being an artists sometimes .is difficult, as it never allows you to indulge in the illusion of a “safe lifeâ€.
Becoming .an artist means sacrifice. To leave behind many things, people, places, possessions.
Being an artist means a life of surprise. Nothing is sure. Everything can change unexpectedly.
One big, very special adventure.
I was born in Munich, Germany, in 1966 and studied Art first in Munich and later at the Art Students League, New York. In my artistic quest I traveled the world and settled in Dominican Republic in 1995. Since 1999 I live and work in Queens, New York.
For me the act to create is essential .to the human being. It gives all the pleasure and satisfaction nothing else .can ever give. Art is about creating. Our entire life is about creating: it .is our purpose in life.
My primary medium of expression is painting. “Black Tulip†however is a digitally altered image. It captures me in a moment of melancholy. I feel like drowning in a deep lake, but yet while dead, life around me continues. “Black Tulip†is a montage of a photograph with a reproduction of a work by the German Artist Paul Klee.
