is a net.artist and writer based in Sydney, Australia, who has been working online since the mid 1990’s in her subtle.net domain constructing sites which investigate the technological and psychological aspects of online identity, locality, sexuality and community, as well as viral symbiosis, trans species relations and multi-user 3d environments.
She has just completed her Phd inmVirtual Media at College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales.
Rackham publishes on and offline in arenas like Realtime, Leonardo, Ctheory, Intelligent Agent ,and recent conference presentations include Contagion in Australia, Invencao in Brazil, Consciousness Reframed in Wales, and ISEA in Japan. Her webworks have been included in many international festivals including Beyond Interface, Cybercultures, Perspecta99, Transmediale, Art Entertainment Network, The Montreal Biennale, Hybrid life Forms, European Media Arts Festival, ISEA, and the Buenos Aries Biennial.
She received the Faulding Award for Writing for Multimedia at the 2000 Adelaide Festival, and the SoundSpace Award for Virtual Worlds at the 2001 Stuttgart Filmwinter .In 2002 she started the -empyre- forum. and is currently networked media curator-in-residence at ACMI.
