David R. Mooney

Mooney (b. 1949) is a self-taught composer of fixed music on disc. In the mid-sixties through college, Mooney destroyed a number of tape recorders attempting to emulate the sounds he
heard in electronic music. After digressing for two decades through writing and visual arts he returned to music in the early 1990s. His first public performance was at a University of Pittsburgh Music on the Edge concert in 1998.
Since then his work has been heard at concerts, festivals and conferences in Asia, Europe, North America and the Caribbean, including ICMC, SEAMUS, Electronic Music Midwest,
Logos Foundation Summer Concerts, the Shy Anne Film and Video Festival, EuCue Concerts, Bourges Festival Synthese, Zeppelin2004, Vox Novus’s 60×60, and at Engine 27. Works have been broadcast on new music programs from Zagreb to Seattle and points in between. Mooney’s 24-part work Rhythmiconic Sections is available on the Arizona University Recordings (AUR) label. Other selections are available on expanding records, Production electro Productions, and
Capstone. Mooney composes in his personal studio in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
