Anne Bray & Molly Cleator (USA)

Anne Bray and Molly Cleator

Anne Bray and Molly Cleator have shown art at gas stations, malls, movie
theaters, on tv, in department stores, on billboards, in homes.
As artists they have produced public art projects funded by Public Art
Fund and others, and mixed media installations at Santa Monica Museum of Art,
and elsewhere. Most recently they developed a new video installation with at
Pomona College and a video performance at Track 16 Gallery.
Anne Bray teaches public art at University of Southern California and new
genres at Claremont Graduate University. She also directs L.A. Freewaves, a
consortium of arts organizations, cable stations, libraries and schools
presenting a decentralized video and new media festival every two years
throughout Los Angeles.
Since 1980, Molly Cleator has performed as an artist, actress and spoken
wordist on the stage, screen, TV, gallery, CD, radio and cafe. She has
performed in numerous of her own pieces and in collaborative site specific
works with Cornerstone Theater, Padua Hills Playwrights Festival and Art as
Spectacle. As an actress, she has worked with Seinfield, Schwartzenegger and
Peter Weir.
Continuous collaborators since 1989, Cleator and Bray contrast their
different points of view in forms reflective of the issues and sites,
accessible to a broad audience. Their concerns about community and self, i.
e., about negotiating one’s place in our mass mediated society merge into
their collaborative installations.
